This Major (Res.) of Beit HaZayit, a Company Commander in the 318th Brigade’s 224th Battalion who had previously served as a platoon commander in elite Shaldag, fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip at age 42. Alongside raising his large family, his medical school studies, and a demanding reserve commitment of over 80 days a year, he managed a specialized recruitment program to bring ultra-Orthodox Israelis into Unit 8200—a roaring success—and was a primary mentor in the Shaldag veterans’ association.
